Adult asthma obviously has the ability to affect a sufferer’s way of life but the experts tell us it doesn’t have to. Indeed it doesn’t.
Asthma symptom can be brought on by a variety of triggers. Sufferers who practice good management practice techniques will live a good quality of life where asthma symptom aren’t a constant worry. Did you know in the United States alone, over 17 million people are affected by asthma.

Acupuncture For Asthma

Acupuncture for asthma benefits such things as a reduced dependency on drugs. In the US, states have there own regulated laws relating to qualified acupuncture practitioners. Certainly if you are not getting relief from your current treatment methods then acupuncture for asthma provides another alternative.

Allergic Asthma

Allergic asthma affects over 50 per cent of asthma sufferers. It has been described as a chronic inflammatory disorder of the airways.

Allergic asthma forms from an early childhood and sufferers are affected by elements such as dust, mold and pollen. The problem of course is those three factors are hard to avoid so physicians will prescribe medication to reduce the incidence of attack.

Asthma sufferers have enough to worry about regarding their illness. For starters, avoiding known asthma triggers can be hard enough to avoid, but also consider the factor of asthma food allergy.

What Is Asthma Food Allergy?

In a nutshell, it’s basically a reaction to certain food types with the consequences in a lot of cases not immediate but the result of a delayed pattern food allergy. In the United States alone, 3% of children and 1% of adults are afflicted with food allergy each year; from some 30,000 cases of food-induced anaphylaxis death occurs in approximately 150 cases.

Research shows that food aversion is mostly prevalent in city inhabitants who have asthma. Researchers found approximately 45% of the children who suffered from asthma in the study were sensitive to at least one food allergen and had a higher rate of hospitalization. This resulted in more steroid-related medication to control the asthma food allergy attack.

In certain food studies it’s been found certain foods do trigger asthma food allergy and subsequently an attack. Food allergy is referred to adverse immunologic reaction to food. The primary target organs of food allergic reaction are the skin, gastrointestinal tract and the respiratory system.

Both acute reactions and chronic disease such as asthma food allergy may occur due to food allergens. To diagnose food allergy requires a careful in depth search for possible causes. Once sure of the cause one can proceed to treatment or elimination of the foods.

Being Prudent About Asthma Food Allergy

Food induced asthma is an IgE-medicated diseases that could be caused by indigestion or from inhalation of vapors released during cooking or otherwise. The prevalence of asthma food allergy in the general population is regarded as low but research has shown approximately 5% of children with asthma involved in studies have shown signs of asthma food allergy.

Food is not regarded as a major trigger for asthmatics however, following good medical practices combined with some due diligence is required. In the case of children, parents need to keep a watchful eye on them and during the very early years, once certain food types have been established, careful administration practices will need to be adhered to.

Asthmatics don’t need to be preoccupied with asthma food allergy every minute of the day; just be aware when it’s time to eat and drink that there are some do’s and don’ts to take note of. If certain foods cause discomfort, take this as a sign that it could be time to consider removing it from your menu. Certainly check with your doctor.

Be Wary Of Certain Food Products

Certain food products have been established as leading causes of food allergies. These include milk, eggs, peanuts, wheat, soy and some tree nuts. From my personal file, my son used to suffer reactions to dairy milk and upon medical advice, it was suggested we switch to goats milk.

This seemed to have a positive effect and we continued this process through his early years until he began his schooling. However, don’t take this as a sure-fire answer to food allergy reactions you may encounter. Talk to your doctor immediately about any reactions and don’t assume something will make a difference because it worked for someone else.
